The building manager of this large government department tenanted building required a sustainable and highly slip resistant clear anti slip coating solution near Canberra City centre.
The previous solution employed over the very large external tiled collonnade has worn down and increased the risk of slipping of the surfaces when it got wet.
Anti-Slip Anywhere was contacted to assess the situation and provide a long lasting highly slip resistant solution for the issue.
After the initial assessment a comprehensive proposal was submitted and the SupaPoly water based environmentally friendly clear anti slip coating system application was suggested. The proposal included the work stages, barrier fencing, removal of the existing coating, application of the SupaPoly© system and immediate as well as subsequent follow-up independent slip resistance testing of the new surfaces by a NATA accredited entity, Safe Environments.
The work was carried out in November 2014 in three stages, to minimise inconvenience to people accessing the building as well as to the general public.
The work was completed on the agreed time and schedule. The independent slip resistance test produced a high Pendulum Class (P5) slip resistance which was only reduced by a very marginal amount when it was tested again after 6 months use.
The newly developed and comprehensive site specific cleaning and maintenance instructions of the anti slip surfaces are fully adhered to which not only assist to maintain the aesthetic appearance of the surfaces, but also it assist to retain its slip resistive quality.
Lots of positive feedback was provided about the SupaPoly clear anti slip coating solution from various parties.
The SupaPoly system consists of epoxy and polyurethane coatings with special highly slip resistant and hard wearing grit inclusion after the surfaces had special preparatory treatments to assist adhesion.
