Concrete reinforcing steel cutting system without personnel costs

This impressive system was commissioned in a large Belgian concrete and precast production facility and had to be planned and assembled - taking the highly restricted space available into account - to fit perfectly there.

For the fully automated cutting system in question, a Pedax Combiline was equipped with an automatic counter and insertion system – the Autender S. Also included is a computer-controlled bar storage unit, from which the reinforcing steel is removed automatically to be cut.

The rebar is inserted into the Combiline cutting device and the cutting process keeps running continuously. The cut bars are positioned by means of stop systems and ejected either to the right or left hand side. The items then reach predetermined zones in a pallet via inclined roller tables with hook systems.

At this stage, they are sorted and then collected to be conducted to further processing points. So as not to interrupt the automated process, bar remains are removed automatically from the cutting and working area and disposed of via a flexible chute system into the containers provided.

Device for collecting short lengths

There is a new efficient device for collecting short lengths and storing them already sorted in boxes. Short cut lengths otherwise often interfere with or interrupt the process, as they require manual intervention. With the new system, short lengths are sorted via a box into a container system, whose position can be altered.

This means that, even in this area, cutting and storage can now be carried out without manual intervention. Production, including an automated collection system, can be carried on to a great extent without employees using this plant.
