Power tools are those which are powered or driven by power sources - mostly by electricity. Power tools can be stationary as well as hand-held, which may be portable. These tools are used in almost every industry for material drilling, cutting, shaping, edging, grinding, polishing and driving. Power tools come in different sizes and speeds of operation. Typical power tools are power drills, saws, grinding machines, compressors, belt and disc sanders, nail guns, trimmers, torque tools and heat guns. Hand-held power tools without the input of power use human mechanical action or force for their operation.
A cutting tool is used to remove material from the workpiece. The removal of material is by shear deformation, and the cutting is either single point or multi-point. Cutting tools are harder than the material to be cut, have to sustain the heat generated during cutting, and must be wear resistant. Cutting tools are made from materials such as high speed steel, cemented carbide, ceramics, cermets and carbon steel. Cutting tools are essential for every metal processing industry.
