Detection and control devices refer to the various types of hardware and software specially designed to detect and control potential hazards to safety and security so as to effectively eliminate or minimise their possible impacts. Some examples of these safety and security hazards are fire, all types of thefts, break-ins, gas leaks, oxygen depletion, explosions, and the spread of viruses.
Many detection and control devices have built-in alarm systems and email alert systems whereas others can be connected to an existing security alarm system.
Some examples of detection and control devices that fall into this category are pathogen detection and control devices (such as air samplers), fire detection and control devices (such as smoke detectors and fire alarm systems), gas detection devices and systems, optic fibre sensors systems for strain and temperature sensing , and computer virus detection software and systems.
