Drives and Control Systems
For more than 25 years Coopers has been at the forefront of design and performance standards for smoke and fire barrier drive systems.
From the introduction of Gravity Fail Safe in 1981, to the development of regenerative braking techniques, variable speeds and torque controls; Coopers VarioSpeed remain as the benchmark within the industry.
Coopers Fire and Smoke Barriers are driven by reliable, fire-tested motor drive systems. Either as stand-alone units, linked to standard alarm interfaces, or incorporated into a full monitoring and control system that is integrated with an existing building management system – the barriers provide local or remote pro-active, anticipatory service and maintenance monitoring.
The rugged tubular drives contain fully protected internal motors, gear boxes and electromagnetic brakes, totally self-contained within a strong steel casing inside the steel roller mechanism. A unique feature is the Coopers’ electromagnetic brake system.
Many competitors’ systems operate by permanently stalling the motor in the retracted position, which shortens its operational life and increases service and maintenance costs. Coopers drives never compromise on essential operational functions such as conjoining.
