Emergency Escape Breathing Apparatus | North Star

Supplier: Siebe Gorman

The Siebe Gorman North Star Escape set is a constant flow hooded Emergency Life Saving Apparatus.

It provides a high degree of respiratory protection in toxic environments with a protection factor in excess of 2000.

It comprises a compressed air cylinder and T valve, with cylinder contents gauge, pressure reducing valve, breathing pneumatics, air supply hose and a unique Constant Flow Escape Hood packed in a specially designed carry satchel.

ELSA features:

Escape Air Hood:

The Escape Hood is lightweight, has a wide transparent visor providing optimum visibility and is made from Proban material incorporating an Elastomeric Neck Seal with an Inner Mask which prevents the visor from misting and minimises CO2 dead space.

Automatic Activation:

North Star ELSA has been designed for quick and easy use. The ELSA activates on pulling the satchel's quick release tab, which opens the bag, releases the Air Hood for donning and automatically starts the supply of air to the hood.

Carry Satchel:

The Carry Satchel houses the Compressed Air Cylinder & Valve, Constant Flow Hood and Pneumatics. These are all protected from the elements and locked with a Tamper Proof Security Tag. Upon breaking the security tag and pulling open the bag tabs, the user has immediate access to the Breathing Hood and a Constant Flow of Air Supply.

Cylinder and Valve:

Incorporates a Steel Cylinder in 2.0 litre, 200 bar or 3.0 litre, 200 bar capacities and provides the user with 10 or 15 minutes nominal duration of compressed air respectively. Aluminium or Composite cylinders are available on request.

The Cylinder Valve incorporates a safety ratchet locking mechanism and a constant pressure indicator.

The North Star ELSA Pneumatic system is a Reducer assembly fitted with a Piston and Spring mechanism.

This mechanism reduces high cylinder pressure, controls back pressure and supplies a Constant Flow of Breathing Air to the Hood.
