Faulty solar product equals faulty business

The solar power industry has had many trials and tribulations, and continues to do so.

Through all of this, the longevity of installers in business relies on the quality of the installed systems, which in turn relies on the quality of solar hardware used in these systems.

Solar Power Australia (SPA) is a key player in Australia’s solar power business, and has a central role in supporting many solar power installers through its solar power wholesale dealer network. SPA’s wholesale dealer network members are all Clean Energy Council (CEC) accredited, so they are continually encouraged to achieve industry Best Practice for all design and installation work involving solar photovoltaic power systems.

Brett Sutherland, Managing Director of SPA, said efforts in sourcing quality solar hardware stemmed from the desire to help their dealers in their businesses: "Our dealers are most important to us, and their customers are most important to them. Quality hardware is paramount to continued success in their business, as it is in ours."

CEC rules for accredited solar companies require installed systems to perform reliably over a long period and be safe. In order to meet this requirement and have confidence in fully warranting workmanship and equipment, quality solar hardware is essential.

Breakdowns in system componentry can cost a business dearly through many wasted hours in investigating the problem, replacing or repairing the defective item, and then arranging its replacement and often its installation. This direct cost accumulates rapidly if poor quality hardware is used. In addition to this direct cost, breakdowns also generate negative feedback from customers, impacting business reputation, and this can be severely detrimental to a business in attracting new customers.

For these reasons SPA has spent considerable effort in sourcing and supplying quality parts for its wholesale dealer network members. This often involves visiting manufacturing plants and test labs, and fully investigating quality systems used in manufacture.

As a minimum requirement SPA offers high efficiency panels utilising mono crystalline cells and long life TPT back-sheets. Likewise, inverters offered are selected on the basis of providing best efficiency and proven reliability, and this can be said for the range of items supplied separately, or as part of their 1kW to 10kW grid connect power packages.

Solar hardware stocked by SPA has been selected to cater to the demanding commercial and industrial sectors. In addition to individual items of equipment, SPA has developed product ranges such as portable solar power and solar lighting packages.

They also offer an extensive line of pre-engineered systems to suit specific application requirements, and ensure fast turnaround of systems to meet demanding schedules.
