The ability of 3PLs to increase their storage capacity is directly proportional to their ability to increase not just their customer base, but also their profits. One way to increase warehousing floor space is to build larger warehouses, however this can be a massive imposte on a company’s capital and operating expenditure. A much smarter way to increase floor space in a warehouse is to decrease the width of the current racking by the use of some very smart materials handling technology from forklift company Flexilift Australia .

According to Mr. John Fisher, Business Development Manager of Flexilift, the Flexi Narrow Aisle forklift “will allow 3PLs to increase their holding capacity and take on more clients as holding warehouse capacity is increased by up to 30%, thus reducing material handling costs by up to 50%, as well as an aisle –width reduction of up to 2m, compared to usual 2.8m”.

Furthermore, notes Mr. Fisher, “There is no need for guide rails capable of lifting to 12m with a 1000kg weight, giving the Narrow Aisle forklift another big advantage”. Mr. Fisher points out that, “This unique hybrid forklift can operate just as well in the loading yard outside as indoors in extremely restricted aisles”.“The Flexi Narrow Aisle Forklift allows you to cut your materials handling costs by up to 50 per cent by abolishing double handling and replacing two separate forklifts with one very versatile machine”, he says.“For 3PLs this is a big improvement on what their options are when it comes to increasing the space and efficiency of their warehouses”.

Moreover he says, “By using the Flexi in modern warehouses means a costly restructuring of your available warehouse space is now a thing of the past. The Flexi Narrow Aisle forklift can work in very small spaces- even in 1.8 metre aisles. The unique Flexi is capable of lifting up to heights of 12 metres in very tight spaces. And it loads like a counterbalance.”“If you want to increase your warehousing space, efficiency and at the end of the day, profits as well, 3PLs need not look any further than the Flexi Narrow Aisle Forklift—it’s the fastest and most cost-effective way to get the most out of your warehouse to date”, Mr. Fisher says.

The Flexi narrow aisle forklift has proven its worth at some of the biggest companies in Australia.“For example Paperlinx are currently using four of the Flexi Narrow Aisle Articulated electric forklifts from Flexilift. This bold move allowed Paperlinx to reduce their aisle widths and utilize their warehouse to its maximum capacity. “The strategically designed warehouse has also minimized their forklift requirements as Reach Truck’s are no longer required to operate in this site”, says Mr. Fisher, adding that the company has said on record that it has managed to increase its storage capacity by approximately 15%, as a result of utilizing the articulated forklifts from Flexilift”. In fact he notes that, “Paperlinx previously operated in 3.5 metre wide aisles but now they only need 2.2 metre wide aisles, saving considerable footprint in its warehouses—a very valuable lesson for any 3PL out there wishing to do the same”.
