Functions such as anti-static, dirt and water repellent qualities as well as anti-microbial and flame retardant properties can be applied with Nanokote nano-industrial coatings to neutralise odours and stop the spread of bacteria, fungi and spores in health care facilities.
We have also developed a new coating that imparts a permanent electrostatic charge to the surface of non-woven air filter media. This new development can dramatically increase the efficiency of low cost filter media. Excellent results have been observed for 100% polyester, 100% polypropylene and PES/PP/PBT microfibres. In most cases we can increase fractional efficiency to more than 90%. This represents improvements of 40-60%.
Our specialised textile coatings for air filter media can significantly increase the retention of fine dust. Performance is increased due to the user of finer, functionalised fibres and a change in the textile structure. Hence, the net increase in efficiency can be attributed to both mechanical and electrostatic effects.
An important feature of the coated air filters is that we can dramatically improve efficiency without negatively impacting the air permeability of the filter media, i.e. there is no change to the pressure drop.
Other functionality that is becoming more important in green building design is flame retardant building elements. In the case of air conditioning systems and electrical cabinets we can now provide a value add to the filter media to ensure the best practise in safe design. In some other air filter applications it is important for the fibres remain uncharged, for this application can provide a permanent anti-static solution.
Our value added coatings for air filters are water based and can be easily implemented into existing processing lines.
