The IP Compact Label inspection system has developed in conjunction with leading labelling machine manufacturers to provide a system which can reliably confirm that the correct label has been applied to the product.
Many clients have quite large libraries of labels which may be applied to a given container. These labels may be very close design and colour such that human operators may not notice that an incorrect label is being loaded into the application cassette. The result can be expensive product recall resulting in significant brand image damage as well loos of client confidence.
The IP Compact Label system uses PPT smart camera technology to capture an image of the label. These cameras may be either greyscale or colour variants. The PPT system utilizes proprietary software check each image and ensure that the label is in fact the correct one for the job.
In order to do this, one of two design philosophies must be adopted:
A library of all possible label types can be developed. This library can then be loaded onto the camera. The operator selects the correct label from the library and loads it to the camera. The inspection routine then takes place to ensure that all observed match the features of expected label.
A second option is to use the "Auto teach" function in the software. A sample bottle is presented to the camera and the camera is triggered manually. The Auto Teach software searches the image for unique features and suggests a solution to the operator.
If the operator agrees than that inspection routine is used for that product batch. This process is very god for clients with large libraries or libraries which change very routinely.
Of course a library can be set up for the most common product types and the "Auto Teach" function can be used for the rest.
The end result is very cost effective way to ensure that product quality is maintained. The IP Compact Label inspection system can be combined with the IP Code Check system to inspect for correct date code and batch print application making the system completely integrated.
