The 5 digit kilogram display provides a more accurate and easy to understand weight reading when compared to the traditional analogue pressure gauge as widely used for weight monitoring.
The costs of overweight fines can be expensive; installing an AXL axle load indicator on-board scale system represents good value and peace of mind for both owners and drivers.
There are 2 versions of the AXL product which are offered in different housings. (The AXL200i is in a stainless steel enclosure while the AXL300 is housed in a lockable PVC case.)
The AXL axle load indicator is a simple to install and calibrate system for air suspension axle groups with a single ride height valve.
The AXL202i and AXL302 are designed for prime mover and trailer suspensions which operate with dual ride height suspension systems. These units will accept 2 inputs from the suspension and will sum and total the weight reading.
The recently released wireless version of the AXL range enables the weight data from multiple axle groups to be displayed on an in- cab touch screen or a hand-held PDA.
The installation of AXL load indicators is a relatively simple task with a pressure connection from the air suspension and an electrical power input in the range of 7 to 28 volts. The electrical power can be a dedicated supply or can simply obtain power from the vehicle side or clearance light circuit.
After the AXL products are installed the calibration process requires the tare weight to be programmed into the unit. The vehicle is loaded and the weight is verified by a weigh bridge, this gross weight reading is then programmed into the meter and the calibration is complete.
