This polymer testing system was developed to measure the flow properties of plastics raw materials. It is an intelligent, modular system, which offers flexibility of testing and increased automation, especially when used in conjunction with the optional, but easy to use NEXYGEN data analysis software.
This system can calculate melt flow index (MFI), melt flow rate (MFR), melt volume rate (MVR), and melt density/viscosity. The main base unit can be configured for either manual or fully automatic testing. For those who use the same machine for a given test, a standard test set-up may be saved and password protected. If doing several different tests, 10 different setups may be saved and recalled by name. The last test can also be reloaded even when the unit is switched off. Sequential instructions are displayed on the LCD for ease of operation, so that operators need not be experienced. Audible prompts complement the written instructions at the correct time and results are calculated and displayed at the end of the test.
The system comes supplied with a full accessory kit. In addition to the standard accessories there is a wide range of optional accessories to increase the functionality of the system. Busy laboratories will save time and improve health and safety by automating the whole process with the addition of the optional displacement transducer and auto weight loading device. The NEXYGENTM software for the MFI-10 is both easy to use and extremely flexible even for operators having little computer knowledge. The standard program comprises the analysis engine, test graph, results table and batch statistics, test setup editor, and the facility to incorporate results with other Microsoft Windows compliant packages.
This polymer tester is heavy duty and of robust construction, while repeatable and reproducible results are easily attained. The temperature control range of the melt flow indexer is 40°C to 400°C, and temperature accuracy is ±0.1°C. The system conforms to international standards ISO1133 and ASTM D 1238 (procedure A & B).
