Mini Bypass Level Indicator - KOBOLD NBK Series

KOBOLD Messring GmbH, a well-known name in sensors and monitoring devices, proudly distributed by ESM Australia, now presents its new Model NBK-M mini-bypass-level indicator.


This new indicator, which is attached with a flange to the side of the container, can be used in tanks up to 30 meters high.

It is suitable for use in storage tanks, ship tanks, mixing vessels and water tanks.

A bypass tube is connected on the side of the container. In accordance with the laws of hydraulics governing interconnected tubes, the liquid level in the bypass tube corresponds to the liquid level in the container. Within the bypass tube (only 40 mm in diameter), a titanium float with a recessed round magnet follows the fluid level and communicates it through contactless transmission to a display or monitoring device mounted outside the tube.

The level is indicated by a rugged, reliable magnetic roller-type display that does not require an auxiliary power source. As the float moves, the display rollers, each half red and half white, are turned 180° in succession about their axis, changing from white to red for rising level and from red to white for falling level. The level in a container or mixing vessel is continuously shown as an easy-to-see red column that is visible at great distances, even in the event of power failure.

To monitor a limit value or the liquid level, one or more reed contacts can be mounted to the bypass tube.

If required, a transmitter with a resistor chain or a magnetostrictive sensor can be mounted outside the bypass tube. The built-in measuring transducer provides a continuous standard signal of 4-20 mA. This standard signal can be interpreted and indicated by an analog or digital display device.

To display and evaluate the standard signal sent by the transmitter, a universal display device from model series ADI can be mounted on the bypass tube.
The mini-bypass-level indicator can be connected to the container by means of a DIN flange (DN 10 to 25) or an ASME flange (½“ to 1“). Depending on the design, the maximum service temperature is 200°C, and the maximum viscosity 200 mm2/s.
