Modular high performance air drying systems offer flexibility and reliability in service


High performance compressed air drying systems are being imarketed in Australia by one of the world’s leading specialists in filtration, separation and purification technologies, domnick hunter.

The latest compact and electronically controlled PNEUDRI MX and MPX systems feature patented modular construction that allows for rapid expansion of systems as industrial plants expand, as well as providing 100 per cent standby drying capacity at a fraction of the cost of larger conventional systems.

With aluminium formed towers typically half the size and weight of traditional twin tower designs- taking up less floor space and making installation easy - the heatless dryers will deliver air at – 40 deg C pressure dewpoint as standard, in accordance with ISO 8573.1 :2001 class 3.2.1.

When combined with domnick hunter’s extensive range of filters, the dryers can achieve Air Quality Class 1.2.1 and 1.1.1. Flow rates of individual units extend from 408 Nm3/h to 2815 Nm3/h.

Release of the new PNEUDRI systems in Australia is part of a worldwide product introduction following the global release of domnick hunter’s complementary OIL-X EVOLUTION compressed air filters, which use aerospace technology to optimise air flow paths and reduce system operating costs.

PNEUDRI’s energy efficient low differential pressure design and reliable air management system provide cost-effective operation, with the option of also fitting domnick hunter’s Dewpoint Dependent Switching (DDS) system.

The DDS system can achieve energy savings of up to 90+ per cent power consumed during the process of drying compressed air to remove impurities that can adversely affect tools, processes and product quality, says domnick hunter’s Business Development Manager, Mr John Davis.

Long life pneumatic cylinder valves provide reliable switching, and high quality “Snowstorm” desiccant filling ensures stable dewpoint performance, consistent airflow and long desiccant life with minimum purge requirements.

“The new PNEUDRIs are designed to be extremely user-friendly, with quiet operation resulting from reduced blow-down noise. They feature a range of easy-to-read and operate control panels, to suit individual requirements.

The product’s modular design is also operator-friendly, eliminating the need for complex valves and interconnecting piping used in conventional twin-tower designs,” said Mr Davis.

The multibanking of dryers facilitated by PNEUDRI’s modularity enables individual banks of dryers to be easily isolated for routine maintenance work for to provide an energy-efficient decrease in air capacity, such as for a night shift. Modularity ensures there is no interruption to supplies of clean dry air.

PNEUDRI’s electronic control options include SMART controllers, the provide system status display, service indication and, for DDS operation, a dewpoint display. The ADVANCED monitoring and control system provides full system status display for the air network, including dewpoint, temperature and pressure.

Providing reliable energy management, this microprocessor controlled system can be configured to monitor individual plant requirements with individually set warnings, fault alarms and area shutdowns.
