The Walter and Eliza Hall Institute – Parkville, VIC Australia

Walter Eliza is the oldest medical research institute in Australia, the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute was established in 1915 and is at the frontline of the biotechnology revolution, embracing new disciplines of bioinformatics, structural biology and medicinal chemistry and emphasising translation of institute discoveries.

To mark the 90th anniversary of their founding, the Victorian Government and the Commonwealth Government each provided a $50 million capital works grant. Together with generous funding from The Atlantic Philanthropies, these grants enabled the institute to expand the Parkville building to nearly double its size and thereby grow research programs and improve health outcomes.

For the institutes Carpark and Loading Dock entrances, the builder (Baulderstone Construction) required a door that was capbale of coping with the expected increase in traffic volume, whilst also catering for the facilties security requirements.
