AML is an object-oriented motion control programming language used to control servo systems and I/O devices. AML is "Soft Motion" and runs without special CPU hardware or DSPs.
The AML application executes on the internal CPU of the computer.
Our industrial PC "SMS" Series is used as the controller hardware, and the internationally certified motion bus SERCOS has been adopted for the communication between the SMS and the servo system.
As a result, full multi-axis control is possible in either position, velocity or torque control modes.
An AML Runtime License installed on an SMS Series industrial PC can connect and control up to 32 axes + 4 SERCOS I/O stations through the SERCOS optical fiber cable and supports other external encoders and virtual axes.
In addition, AML supports connection and control over DeviceNet, Melsec I/O, PROFIBUS DP, and Allen-Bradley DF1 networks. Upstream communications is also supported with DDE, and an OPC server.
