Editorial Policy

News published on our websites originates from such sources as AAP, Reuters, government and industry bodies. Our editorial policy mandates we are not geared towards the research and validation of original content.

Storefront owners can also distribute media releases. These media releases go through an editorial process to determine what level of exposure they will receive. We aim to achieve as much editorial exposure for our Storefront customers as possible, however the quality and relevance of publicly viewed information (external to your Storefront) is important.

Storefront content is handled as follows:

  • Products and Services:
    - Viewable permanently in your Storefront
    - Featured once in our E-Newsletter
    - Featured for 1-3 days on the relevant area of the website

    * Additional product exposure can be purchased with Hot Product Advertising.
    More info:  Product and Services

  • News Releases, Feature Articles and Events:
    - Viewable permanently in your Storefront
    - Screened for publishing in our E-Newsletter and on the website.
         Considerations include:
         - Interest and relevance to our audience
         - Quality of writing (not overly promotion or lack credible evidence)

More info:  News Releases | Feature Articles | Events

Storefront content is added using your Storefront Management Area (username & password provided). When content is added our editors are automatically notified and the information is reviewed and/or amended to go live  within 2 business days.

In your Storefront the size of your logo can be reasonably large, however when it appears together with other companies it must fit within certain size specifications in order to comply.

Your logo will be uploaded in two different formats:

  1. Large format logo
This is for within your Storefront.
    - It can be a maximum size 340 pixels wide by 150 pixels high.
    - Large format logos can be animated gifs.
  2. Small format logo
This is for group areas and must fit within specified size limitations. The size is determined by the Storefront level purchased:

  • Premium Storefront
    - Maximum size: 100 pixels wide by 40 pixels high - not animated.

Content Introduction

Businesses have common types of information they need to communicate to the marketplace. These include: Products and Services, News, Feature Articles and Events.

Traditionally this information has been distributed using printed publications, however the  world is transitioning to the internet and sites like ours are being used. The benefit of our Storefront system is that it applies internet technologies and therefore improves on the traditional publishing process:

  • Content Submission - No more having to email the editor and waiting for a response. You submit your media releases through your Storefront Management Area and our editors are automatically notified.
  • Audience Targeting - When adding content you categorise it and it is only viewed by people with an interest in that area.
  • Success Tracking - With Click Tracking you know how many times your content has been viewed.

In your Storefront you can upload:

  • Product and Services
  • News Releases
  • Feature Articles (also known as Case Studies)
  • Events (Seminars, Exhibitions, Conferences)

Storefront owners have the ability to publish a designated number of these content items depending on their Storefront package:

  • Standard Storefront – 40 items
  • Premium Storefront – 80 items
  • Sitepartner Storefront – 160 items

Different companies use their content capacity in different ways. Some companies have lots of products and some have fewer and choose to publish more articles. For example, a Standard Storefront owner with lots of products may choose to use their Storefront as follows:

Standard Storefront - 40 items:

  • 30 Product and Services
  • 5 News Releases
  • 4 Feature Articles
  • 1 Event

Upload Videos Product and Services

Below are some suggestions for your Products and Services:

  • Ensure your entire range of products and services are displayed in your Storefront.
  • Each time a new product is added to your range, include it in your Storefront.
  • Create a Product Directory to help buyers search through your products
  • Include a picture for each product.
  • Group similar products into one product review to maximise content item capacity.

Style Guidelines

  • Make sure details are to the point and succinct.
  • Outline why this product is unique and different.
  • Avoid repetition and try to make it enjoyable to read.
  • Spend some time thinking about the presentation, punctuation and grammar.
  • Make sure all your points are clear and easy to understand.
  • Translate jargon into simpler words.

Each time a new product is added to your Storefront it will be featured in our DailyNewsWire e-newsletter. Your product's promotion in the DailyNewsWire is one of the most significant aspects in generating sales leads through our websites. View: Editorial Policy

Note: When adding New Products do not add them as News Releases (See
News Releases below)

It is important to follow a few guidelines to correctly structure the text for each Product to achieve good results.

Product Name
The Product Name should be brief and include a concise description of what the product does so as to assist buyers. Maximum 45 characters including spaces or 6 words.

Good Example:
Fluke 1650 Series - Multifunction Installation Testers

Poor Example:
Fluke 1650 Series

Product Introduction
This should be one or two sentences introducing the product and summarising what it is used for (its application). Maximum 60 words.

Good Example:
The 1650 Series testers verify the safety of electrical installations in domestic, commercial and industrial applications. They can ensure that fixed wiring is safe and correctly installed to meet the requirements of IEC 60364, HD 384 and all relevant local standards.

Product Description
Don't repeat the First Paragraph here. This should be a complete description explaining the product, what it is used for and its associated features, benefits and applications. Try to lead on from where the First Paragraph left off. The Full Description can also include additional examples for which the product may be used. Also include relevant technical information but not too much.

The Description field provides an HTML editor to improve  the appearance of text with options to bold, underline, align, use bullet points and numbering. Improving the appearance of text can make products more attractive and makes it easier for readers to make sense of the information.

Good Example:
The unique ergonomic design, low weight, and padded neck-strap to free your hands, make operating a Fluke 1650 multifunction tester a pleasure.

With easy-to-operate controls and a large display with exceptionally wide viewing angle, it's also comfortable and safe to use.

Select from three models:

  • Fluke 1651: Performs all basic installation tests including continuity/insulation/loop impedance and RCD tripping time

  • Fluke 1652: Also provides RCD tripping current level and RCD auto-testing

  • Fluke 1653: As Fluke 1652 but with earth resistance and phase sequence measurement.
Has internal memory and a PC interface for documentation and reporting

Fluke Corporation, a world leader in compact, professional electronic test tools, today introduced a new line of SureGrip™ professional test equipment accessories designed to improve gripping ability and reduce the chance of probes slipping from your hand or off the component.

The result of extensive research into professional uses, the new SureGrip accessory line from Fluke includes a full array of clips and test leads with rubber over-molded surfaces and finger-hugging curves for all-important ergonomic comfort and operational ease.

Note: When you Cut and Paste text from other documents, eg. Microsoft Word Documents or Graphics Programs you should always paste it into Notepad first and then from Notepad copy it into your Storefront Management Area. This cleans the text from unwanted formatting that may cause Storefront information to look untidy or incorrect. To find the Notepad program on your computer go to:  Start >  Programs  >  Accessories  >  Notepad.

Keep paragraphs short and use line breaks (press the keys Shift & Enter together) to make text easier to read. Contact details should not be included in the text as each Product links back to your Storefront.

This field is limited to 6500 characters including spaces.

Product Status
Select if the Product is New, Used or For Rent. (Leave out if unsure)

Featured Product
Orders the products in your Storefront from high to low, with products set as high displaying towards the top of the Products & Services box in your Storefront.

Indicative Price
Entering indicative pricing is optional.

Good Examples: AUD$50.00/Kg
Poor Examples: 50

(Leave out if unsure)

Categorisation

After completing the Product content click the 'Save and Continue' button at bottom of the page to select relevant Content Categories for the product. This determines:
(1) which Supplier Area your product will be showcased on
(2) which subscribers will receive your Product in their DailyNewsWire E-Newsletter

Upload Picture
Each product can have one picture. Pictures should be in GIF or JPEG format and less than 50kb in size. Picture dimensions must be less than 350 pixels wide by 250 pixels high. If sizes are incorrect the image will fail to upload.

Your Product Directory

Some businesses add many products to their Storefront. To provide visitors with a more organised way to navigate and view your products, you can create and maintain your own Product Directory within your Storefront.

To start creating your Product Directory, login to your Storefront Management Area and follow these steps:

Step 1. Add Product Categories
Note down a list of product categories under which your products could be categorised, then under the Your Products area on the left hand side menu click on Categories and select Add New Category. Fill in the Category name and click OK. Repeat the process for all other categories.

Step 2. Categorise Your Products
In this step you will categorise the products in your Storefront.

1. Click on one of your product names
2. Click on the Categorisation button at the top of the page
3. Tick the Product Directory Categories box. (A list of your product categories will appear).
4. Tick the relevant categories
5. Click 'Save Changes' at the top of the page.

Repeat the process for all of your products. Please note that when products are edited, there will be a short delay before the products re-appear in the Storefront (usually one business day) as they are reviewed by our team.

Top^

Product Positions

If you do not have a Product Directory you can individually set the positions of products displayed in your Storefront.

Do this in your Storefront Management Area by clicking on the ‘Manage Existing' link under the Products section on the left. Insert numbers in the Position boxes and click Save.

Inserting '1' will make a product appear at the top of your Storefront. Inserting '2' will make it appear second, and so on. Ideally each product should have a different position number. Products with the same position number will appear next to each other in your Storefront.

It is suggested to set a product position for all your most important products, as this will feature them in your Storefront. Featured Products display more information and a picture (if available). Products with a ‘0' as the position number will not be Featured Products and will be listed at the bottom of your Storefront.

Adding Products
When you add a product to your Storefront for the first time it is assigned a default position of 1. To change this go to your Product list, find the recently added product, change the position number and click Save.

Upload Videos News Releases

Each time something relevant and interesting happens, write and publish a news release.

Examples could include:
  - Awards won and recognition received.
  - Mergers and acquisitions.
  - New capabilities, production or distribution processes.
  - New management staff or new partnerships.
  - Acquisitions and/or successful implementations for new customers.

Style Guidelines
- Make sure it is as factual as possible.
- Use the first paragraph to catch the reader's attention and sum up why this news is important.
- Aim to make each paragraph the same length.
- Avoid repetition and think about the flow – allow the facts to unfold smoothly.
- Be concise and read over a few times to make sure you get all your points across.

New Releases will be viewable in their Storefront. Our editors may also choose your news article for additional exposure on other areas including the News Centre and E-Newsletter.
View: Editorial Policy

2. Don't use capital letters unless referring to a brand name, company, location or person.
3. Make sure the headline is clear and interesting to attract the attention of readers.
Headlines may be re-written by our editors if selected for public broadcasting.

Introduction

1. The introduction should be one or two sentences which sets the scene for the rest of the News Release.

News Content
1. Do not repeat the introduction in the content field.
2. Provide a minimum of 150 words in the content.

Note: The News Release area should not be used for Product and Services even if they are new.

Top^

Upload Videos Feature Articles

Feature Articles (also referred to as Case Studies) differ from News in that they are a more in-depth discussion about a particular subject. They can include detailed information about successful projects, methodologies, case studies or other useful information which could inform, educate and influence buyers.

If you page through a trade magazine you will easily be able to see the difference between news articles and feature articles. The same distinction is true in your Storefront.

Suggestions
If you have written and published feature articles in the past (perhaps for magazines), republish them in your Storefront. Examples include:
- In-depth analysis on processes and methodologies.
- In-depth analysis of a customer implementation.
- How your solutions or products address customer requirements.

Style Guidelines
- Allow your imagination and creativity to flow with feature articles.
- Take time to really express why a certain area of your company is so important.
- Try to include unique insights and quotes to back up your points.
- Include pictures or other visuals to illustrate points.
- Read over carefully and make sure you have elaborated adequately where necessary.

Feature Articles are also considered by our editors for public exposure. View: Editorial Policy.

Top^

Upload Videos Events

Use the Events section of your Storefront to advertise events you are involved in. These can include Trade Shows, Conferences, Product Launches and Training Seminars.

Guidelines

Same event - different dates/locations
If you are running the same event at different dates and locations, you should enter the series of events as one listing in order to stand the best chance of having your event selected for featuring.

Within the event listing you should summarise all the locations in the location field and enter the first start date and last end date in the start/end date fields.

Example:
Start Date: 01/06/05
End Date: 28/07/05
Location: Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide
