Proactive building maintenance management of this city-based large office building has identified a slip and fall risk of their aged fire stairs.
When the stairs initially were installed two narrow anti slip strips were placed on the landing and over time the actual nosing has worn down and the strips have not provided any protection. As a result a decision was made to upgrade all 800 plus fire stair nosing in the entire building to ensure employee and public safety as well as to improve aesthetical appearance.
Global Safe Technologies Australia was called to assist with the assessment of the situation and provided management with a long term, cost effective, sustainable solution.
The product proposed was the Safe Grip cold fusion anti slip stair nosing due to its proven very hard wearing, excellent bonding to various surfaces and long lasting slip resistance which will ensure that the solution will solve the issue for the next decade. Fast curing time of the product as well as the company’s capability to complete the job over seven evening and nights were also very important.
To improve safety as well as aesthetical appearance, the Safety Yellow colour was chosen. Global Safe Technologies has assembled a team of experienced floor safety network members by assembling a team of competent applicators and have completed the work within the agreed time frame with no interruption to the tenants of the building. Building management and the owners are completely satisfied with the quality of workmanship and professionalism of the team.
Global Safe also offered its worldwide unique quality assurance system, which ensures that the solution provided is fully compliant with the relevant slip resistance standards and backed up with the relevant documentation. This solution is offered to commercial clients at no additional cost**.
Management also appreciated the Global Safe approach of not only providing the floor safety solution, but backing it up with a long term warranty as well as with a ongoing risk management program, which is also offered at no additional cost** to them.
This risk management program which is called Surface Safety Maintenance Program or SSMP, includes site specific cleaning staff training as well as regular inspections and reporting of the surface condition.
The SSMP will ensure that the fire escape stairs will remain safe for all employees, now and in the future.
