The testo 815/816 sound level meters with Accuracy Class 2 in compliance with IEC 60651 have recently been launched on the market. Both instruments have a switchable frequency weighting (A/C characteristic). The “A“ weighted curve corresponds to the hearing sensation of the human ear. This is referred to by the technician as the "aurally compensated sound level".
The "C" weighted curve is used if there are many low frequencies in the sound signal.
Additional benefits are optional "Fast" or "Slow" frequency weighting and one function for recognising maximum and minimum readings. The new meters are particularly suitable for long-term measurements on a stand thanks to the built-in tripod knuckle screw (¼ inch).
The testo 815 measurement range extends from 32 to 130 dB, testo 816 measures in the range from 30 to 130 dB.
testo 816 is the ideal choice for workplace measurements and evaluations on account of its wide measurement range and additional functions.
In addition to its wide range of functions testo 816 also has automatic range switchover, display light, trend bar display, AC/DC analog output and a mains connection.
Sound level meters should be newly calibrated if there are changes in location or temperature. Both meters are very easily tested and adjusted using the calibrator which is available as an accessory. Two levels can be set (94 and 114 dB). It is also suitable for calibrating ½ inch and 1 inch microphones by other manufacturers.
The main application areas for both instruments are sound level measurements in the contracting and industrial sector such as in air conditioning and ventilation, building installation engineering and in environment protection.
