Bridgestone Airstep recycled textile underlays are made predominantly from the carpet and garment industries, donated clothing and the recycled fibre industry.
The fibres are blended together, entangled using needlepunching and thermal bonding.
Textile underlays are a low allergy risk and low VOC, meeting the “Green Label Plus” requirements, they have minimal thickness loss over time and by nature are excellent at evening out imperfections in the existing floor e.g. cupping in floor boards.
Manufactured by Smith Family not for profit organisation, the funds raised by the sales of these products helps support disadvantaged Australian children.
In addition, the use of this textile waste to manufacture carpet underlay, helps to reduce the quantity of textile waste going into landfill.
Cushion Pad and Premier Pad: are identical products with the only difference being their thickness, Cushion Pad is 7mm thick and Premier Pad 14mm thick, both are suitable for residential and commercial application using a conventional laying method with gripper strips to the perimeter.
Cushion Bond:7mm thick and is more densely packed allowing it to be used in extra heavy duty commercial areas.
A double bond installation is used to adhere the underlay to the floor and to the carpet backing, this process helps prevent the stretching of the carpet in high traffic areas.
