Transducer options include traditional tilted diameter transit-time transducers and new, patented Guided Mode Transducers, both of which utilize the superior transit-time method for determining fluid velocity. Guided Mode transducers are specifically designed for small low-density plastic tubing, such as PFA. Clamping transducers onto existing tubing allows installation in tight locations without shutting down the process. Clamp-on installation also avoids welding and other installation costs that are normally associated with dropping in an in-line paddle wheel, differential pressure, or vortex flowmeter and which typically exceed $500 per point.
The UPT868 electronics is optimized to provide an extremely fast update cycle, which makes the meter ideal for high-speed batching applications or pulsating flows common to diaphragm or bellows pumps. Flow rates as low as 3 gal/h in tubes as small as 3/8 inch (9.5 mm) can be measured with excellent accuracy and repeatability.
