When Parex Group were looking to build their new dry mortar plant in Dandenong, Melbourne WAM was their supplier of choice to provide almost all the materials handling equipment for the entire project.

The plant is required to manufacture a comprehensive range of the Parex Group premixed bagged products so there are multiple silos, dust collectors, manual bag dumps, screw conveyors, hoppers, a bucket elevator and a Map ploughshare mixer.

The Parex Group is an Australian market leader in the production of tile adhesives, grouts, sealants, waterproofing, technical mortars and building products.

With such a diverse range of products being manufactured at the plant it was necessary to have a number of silos containing different varieties of sand and cement.

All of the silos were fitted with WAM Silotop dust collectors, VHS pressure relief valves, Torex high, low and continuos level indicators, Torex differential pressure gauges, Extracurve wide radius bends with OLI Vibrators Fluidisers and Hammers to keep the materials free flowing.

WAM Butterfly Valves with manual actuation have been fitted to the base of all silos. Each silo has WAM ES screw conveyer which feeds product into a central weigh hopper. The outlet of each screw has another butterfly valve with pneumatic actuation fitted.

To feed additional ingredients into the batches there are two Manual bag dumps in the system both with dust collection fans fitted.

In addition the system contains a Roncuzzi Bucket Elevator for conveying the ingredients over multiple levels.

To ensure that the product is mixed to the right consistency with both speed and efficiency the MAP WBHT Plough share mixer was provided by WAM.

Due to volumes of dust created in the plant, equipment and filling lines a WAM FPHTU54 Dust Collector was also provided.

The WAM servicing department was also involved in the installation and commissioning of the plant. In the time that the plant has been operational the Parex Group have been very happy with the overall performance and reliability of the equipment.

A representative from the company has told us that they made the right choice dealing with WAM Australia.
