The new SCRs expand the IR portfolio of discrete plastic SCRs and now cover from 10A to 75A, with voltages up to 1600V, covering the most popular requests from industrial power designers.
Both 1200V and 1600V devices have excellent thermal performance. For example, the junction-to-case thermal resistance of the 70TPS12 and the 70TPS16 is very low, with about 12% better thermal resistance than competing devices on the market, offering an advantage that can increase reliability," said Silvestro Fimiani, International Rectifier Product Marketing Manager.
IR's Super-247 package has lower thermal resistance (0.27 degrees Celsius per Watt), and has the same power handling capability as the larger JEDEC TO-264 package. However, the Super-247 has the same footprint as the common TO-247.
Other benefits include 1400V surge capability, which is useful for safe operation in case a fault condition exists, like a short circuit, and a maximum on-state voltage of 1.4V at 100A, for low power dissipation.
