How the door is to be activated, we see is a crucial part of the total door package; to ensure you have a door that works for you, and not the other way round.
A simple wall mounted push button, or even a ceiling mounted pull cord may sound a bit old fashion, where as an Infrared Motion Sensor sounds more high tech and more in keeping with a Fast Action Door. This is not always the case. All our high speed doors can be fitted with a range of activation options, including Floor Induction Loops, remote control activation, or even touchless hand wave sensors, popular in critical clean room and food processing applications.
More often than not doors are fitted with two differing forms of activation depending on what is passing through the opening at the time. Our control systems can also be integrated with most existing security systems, allowing for controlled monitoring and usage of the door through your existing access control system.
Our team are highly experienced in the various activation options, and are keen to ensure you have not just the right door, but the right activation system as well.
Description Pushbuttons This is the most simple form, and is used primarily for pedestrian traffic. It is not recommended for forklift traffic, but can be used in conjunction with other activation forms.
Pullcords These can be used for either pedestrian traffic or Forklift traffic (depending on the positioning of the pullcord). The cord length is variable, and they operate by a pulse contact, similar to a pushbutton.
Induction Floor Loops These will only operate by an object consisting of substantial metal, such as Forklifts or trolleys. Very popular for high trafficked areas, and usually done in conjunction with pushbuttons to allow pedestrian movement.
Can also be used to restrict pedestrian movement if p’buttons are omitted.
Installation of this must be looked at carefully. It is usually only suitable for concrete or asphalt floors, in which a saw cut is made to insert the cable. This is grouted or epoxied into place.
Remote Control This is suitable for pedestrians or Forklifts, but is primarily used for just Forklifts. Usually a good option if there are only a few Forklifts are using the opening, and especially good when there may be considerable cross traffic that may unnecessarily activate the door. Also good for restrictive entry. Very easy to install.
Care must be taken if there are other remote operations in the vicinity of the door, although frequencies can be changed to suit.
IR Motion Sensors These are great for all forms of traffic, as they activate by any movement or presence in the location of the doorway. Great if pedestrians need hands free operation. They may be limied in openings which experience a lot of cross traffic, since the door may open unnecessarily, unless our NEW directional control IR sensor is selected. This sensor can determine if a vehicle is moving away or across the opening, therefore restricting unnecessary operation of the door
PE Sensors Not often used, but are good because there is a very defined activation area. Downside is that the PEs may be highly exposed to damage, due to being positioned away from the door, but close to the potential pathway.
Swipe Cards These are used for access control, and can be connected to DMF doors, but it is recommended that they are not supplied by DMF. It is preferable that the security contractor for the client supplies these.
Integration with machinery The DMF doors can be integrated with most machinery, including pallet lifts, conveyors, carwashes, fire alarms etc, so that the door will open or close upon a signal from the machinery.
Safety TLG This is a sophisticated array of light beams within the Efaflex rapid roll door that reacts very quickly to any obstruction occurring within the opening.
