Utilising a combination of new control and automation technologies, Industrial Conveying’s ASRS system has at the core a collection of fast moving cranes which respond instantly to commands from the control centre.
The speed with which this system can operate represents a step forward for handlers of perishables because processing times are lowered significantly.
Essentially, radio frequency (RF) controls this ASRS technology. The cranes are controlled from a portable HMI (Human Machine Interface) tablet PC.
Control can be from outside the aisle cells for safety, enabling recovery and maintenance procedures.
The portable HMI graphically displays all vital information such as current actions, positions and alarms. Vertical and horizontal positions of the cranes are accurately controlled via laser positioning devices.
The ASRS cranes can, for instance, store totes or pallets then deliver it to the conveyor system, which in turn delivers it to either the cutting area or the packing area of the plant or for distribution.
The system can be used for order picking production control and delivery of general storage or collating orders for dispatch.
