In March 2003 US wagering company United Tote formed a relationship with Sydney-based industrial design consultancy Design+Industry to provide the design and engineering for its newest family of point of sale terminals. Since it's release in late 2004, the F4 has already been heralded as a success by the wagering industry - proving that Australian design pays off.
U.S. based United Tote has become a leading worldwide supplier of online wagering systems, betting terminals and operating personnel to the pari-mutuel wagering industry. Today, United Tote provides service to over 130 wagering operations throughout the world, including thoroughbred, harness, and greyhound racetracks, jai alai frontons, bicycle velodromes, and off-track betting facilities.
In 2001 United Tote set out on aggressive path to re-invent the pari-mutuel wagering experience for its customers by providing more information, enhanced technology and better terminals. The following two years were spent studying and understanding the betting habits, desires, and needs of the wagering public.
In March 2003 United Tote formed a relationship with Design + Industry to provide the industrial design and engineering for its newest family of point of sale terminals.
The innovative F4 is the most advanced self-service wagering terminal available, providing patrons with a highly sophisticated approach to wagering. The F4’s exceptional engineering and modular design make it possible for seamless transition between self service and staff assist modes by means of the unique fast flip screen feature.
The F4 has already been heralded a success by the wagering industry. The F4 surpasses all competitor products, recently winning the lucrative New York Racing Association (NYRA) contract from a major competitor whom had held the contract for over 20 years. NYRA felt that the F4 terminal “was the most technically advanced product on the market, offering both operator and self-service capabilities”.
United Tote is thrilled with the response to the new range of terminals and is looking forward to a long and successful business relationship with Design + Industry.
