Automotive sub assembly manufacturer selects Gorbel crane

Supplier: Safetech
30 November, 2011

An automotive sub assembly plant required overhead lifting equipment.

Application

Lifting engines and transmissions onto a production line and then transferring the completed assemblies onto shipping pallets at the end of the line.

The Problem

The plant had originally served as a warehouse and distribution centre and there was no existing overhead lifting equipment. Product Chosen

Gorbel Work Station Bridge Cranes:

  • GLCSLX-FS-2000/1000-20-86.6666-10
  • GLCSLX-FS-1000-15-51.25-10
  • GLCS-FS-1000-10-23-10

Benefits of this Product

The Gorbel Free Standing Work Station Bridge Cranes were selected because they mount to the floor so there are no forces applied to the building's overhead structure. Gorbel's trussed runway design allows for longer spans, which means fewer columns and less interference at the floor level. The customer also has the ability to relocate the cranes should the need arise

Alternatives

Jib cranes were considered but did not have the flexibility that the customer needed.
