“Having developed our new Police Internet Kiosk interface, we are entering a whole new channel of communication between ourselves and the public. We wanted to reflect this in the design of the kiosk. We chose the NeoProducts solution for its modern design and flexibility.”
Scott Fulton, Internet Manager - Avon and Somerset Constabulary
As part of their drive towards providing the public with easy access to their website services, Avon and Somerset Constabulary have been very progressive in exploring different channels.
In May 2002, they began to install internet kiosks to provide more communication with the public. The kiosks allow the public to feedback information, provide anonymous intelligence information, as well as report minor crimes and make general enquires.
Avon and Somerset Constabulary selected Neo based on the robustness and stability of our products. We provided them with the stand-up version of the Pathfinder painted in their colour scheme.
The kiosks included the Guardian Kiosk Management Module, which allowed for remote monitoring of the hardware and software, the latter of which was provided by Avon and Somerset Police.
The Guardian provided the added comfort of ensuring that the kiosk could always be up and running and therefore always available to the public. In addition, an A4 printer was included, enabling users to print out any information of interest to them.
Avon and Somerset Constabulary have been extremely pleased with the service, seeing the kiosk as a positive measure towards increasing the visibility of police services to the public.
