A special “lead lined” weighbridge pit was required on the recent install of a 5m x 3m axle weighbridge at Smorgon Steel’s Laverton Site in Victoria to overcome the electrical interference being generated by a 22 kVA cable buried approximately 1500mm below the axle weighbridge’s foundations.
The civil works of the axle weighbridge was carried out by Ultrahawke’s civil contractor, Christopher Renn Constructions, who very competently performed the careful excavation and subsequent lead lining of the weighbridge pit to provide the necessary protection for the weighbridge loadcells.
The load cells used in Ultrahawk’s axle weighbridges are Flintec RC3 loadcells which are IP68 and fully encased in stainless steel to ensure longevity in the toughest of environmental conditions.
This site also has a special operational requirement where steel dust is being removed which required the Rinstrum 5100 digital weight indicator to be mounted in a special enclosure to protect from ingress of dust.
Ultrahawk is Australia's largest manufacturer of weighbridges and celebrated 150 years of operation in 2007 by moving into a new dedicated weighbridge manufacturing facility in Melbourne's northern suburb of Campbellfield.
