Baird's NSW election win 'endorsement' for infrastructure policies
"Premier Mike Baird is to be congratulated for a convincing election victory in New South Wales which provides an opportunity to further build on the state's improved economic performance of recent years," Australian Industry Group NSW Director Mark Goodsell said.
"The result was an endorsement of sensible economic policies such as for greater investment in infrastructure for our regions and clogged cities and for the lease of a share of state-owned electricity transmission and distribution businesses.
"New South Wales clearly needs an injection of spending on infrastructure. Well targeted investments would improve living standards and productivity and would stimulate local businesses able to supply goods and services for the projects.
"The new Government will continue to face significant policy challenges including in relation to energy and particularly around future gas supplies. It is vital that these challenges be addressed in a sensible and sustainable way.
"All members of the Legislative Council should work constructively with the Government in the interests of good policy and the people of NSW," Goodsell said.
