Balmoral Engineering introduces a new line of safety covers

Supplier: Balmoral Engineering
22 September, 2008

Balmoral Engineering now manufacturers three standard lines of Linesman covers, mats, blankets and drapes.

The company specialises in low voltage insulating mats and pipes and has put much R&D into creating an low voltage insulating cover that is easier and safer to use.

Its three fastening options for its range include traditional stud, Velcro and new magnetic fasteners.

The traditional stud product offers reliability and minimal cost. The Velcro one offers ease of use and the magnetic product also offers increased ease of use and safety.

In regards to the magnet fastener, the magnets snap together on their own once draped over the conductors. This helps to prevent the covers from accidentally falling off and revealing live conductors and possibly injuring the public below.

The magnets are fully insulated in a non-conductive polypropylene. This has been tested to 5KV. The magnets are made out of a special high-strength Neodymium rare earth magnet, which does not lose its magnetic properties over time.

They are ideally suited to live line work and act as an insulator for low voltage use.

Live line work calls for strict safety adherence with the right insulation barriers and equipment when working on overhead mains and live conductors.

Balmoral Engineering says that its Linesman Safety Covers are fast becoming the preferred option of all the major distribution authorities, network operators and contractors for insulating low voltage conductors right around Australia.

Here are some reasons why:

-    They are made from tough PVC – yellow on one side and grey on the reverse, providing easy detection of split or cracked material.
- The covers are made from an extremely lightweight material, which is pliable and easy to handle.
- All the covers are batch tested and comply with AS-4202 and are stamped as such.
- They include three fastening options.

They are all manufactured by an Australian owned and operated business.
