In February of 06 EPC personnel worked with Stone and Company from Pittsburgh PA to help come up with an alternate design for the slab on metal decks and slab on grade reinforcement using Macro synthetic fibers.
After convincing the owner and Engineers Stone and Company and the contractor were given the green light to proceed with an alternate design using fibres.
After comparing all available fibres it was determined by Stone and Company that Barchip would provide them the best pound for pound performance versus the competition which would have required a higher dosage rate.
Stone and Company was very pleased with the performance of the fibres during batching and discharge noting the non existence of fibre balls which they expected from past experience with steel fibres and other competitor synthetic fibres.
The contractor was equally pleased and impressed with how Barchip performed from start to finish.
Barchip saved time and labour requiring the contractor to only set forms because the reinforcing was delivered in the truck eliminating the need to hoist and place steel mesh, set chairs, and place rebar resulting in faster placements.
The contractor also was impressed because he did not change any part of his placement procedures by using Barchip with the exception of not having to deal with the steel rebar and welded wire mesh.
Barchip was the answer to the solution for speeding up construction saving time and money for all that were involved. Barchip is tough as steel and doesn’t rust.
