Tyco Electronics (TE), represented in Australia and New Zealand by Soanar - Electronic Component & Supply Chain Solutions introduces a long-reach, passive cable assembly that complies with the DisplayPort version 1.1a Reduced Bit Rate (RBR) specification.

Tyco’s cable assembly has been certified by VESA (Video Electronics Standards Association), a certification program that enables consumers to easily identify cable adaptor products, which have been tested and certified for proper operation via the DisplayPort Certified Logo on adaptor product packaging.

By meeting the DisplayPort RBR compliance specifications, this long-reach cable assembly enables transmission of multimedia content in HD format from a source device such as a graphic accelerator in a PC to a sink device such as a projector or LCD TV located as far as 15 metres away.

Tyco's long-reach cable assembly can be used in applications such as projectors, large commercial LCD monitors as well as bulletin and information panels commonly found on large campuses.

Tyco’s long-reach cable assembly is available in two lengths of 10 metres and 15 metres.

DisplayPort Version 1.1a specification

DisplayPort Version 1.1a specification defines the next generation video/audio interface form factor and video/audio content transmission in variable data rate: High Bit Rate (HBR) at 10.8Gbps and RBR at 6.48Gbps.

HBR is mainly used in short-reach video/audio interconnect applications such as a desktop PC to a standalone LCD whereas RBR is mainly used for long-reach video/audio interconnect applications such as a notebook PC to a projector.
