Case Study: MFB - a true family business

Supplier: Fenwick Software
15 December, 2009

Founded in 1970, MFB is a true family business that has now grown to a staff level of 55.

Manufacturing 19" rack systems for a growing roster of clients has meant moving from a compact operation, to one that requires a sophisticated level of automation and clear communication. With growth however comes challenges.

According to General Manager David Bilston, MFB's previous system was restricted to chasing the proverbial paper trail, in triplicate. Data integration was anything but seamless, order status was not tracked through the system, and goods were sometimes slow to be dispatched. As a consequence, MFB suffered inefficient operational systems and frustrated clients.

Since the successful implementation of Microsoft Dynamics NAV by Fenwick Software's senior consultant Brad Foot, MFB has noticed a marked increase in sales revenue as a direct result of improved customer satisfaction. Their staff have also taken pride in better managing their workflow. Inventory levels are more accurate, and pricing and scheduling functionality is now right on the money.

In fact, according to David Bilston - "the staff love it!"

But most impressive to MFB was Brad Foot's ability to listen to what was required. Not only through brainstorming sessions, but by tuning in to each section in the chain. As a result, the final outcome is a system that is finely tuned to the business, and now drives around 85% of all MFB's operations.

Built upon the familiar Windows interface, Microsoft Dynamics NAV allows for easy communication from upstairs design and admin, to the workshop downstairs.

Indeed, MFB has created a working culture that enjoys staff longevity through respect and loyalty. They have found that direct communication between its people is the key to ongoing success. We at Fenwick Software like to think we have played a part in that mission.

"The process of implementing Microsoft Dynamics NAV has been seamless, a real pleasure."
