Case study: Modernisation of Elim Church

Supplier: Platform Lift Company
14 January, 2010

The Platform Lift Company recently played an important role in a project involving the modernisation of the Elim Church in Andover, Hampshire.

The Church was originally planted in 1928 and first met in hired premises in the town. A local family of builders erected the previous building in South Street in 1938-39. Yet in recent years the former building proved to be too small for the growing congregation and the variety of activities provided for the local community, which includes a popular pre-school and Parent and Toddler group.

The need for extra space and modern facilities prompted the commission of a grand project to demolish the old building and replace it with a new Church that now fully accommodates the needs of its members.

The Church continues to raise money to fund their remarkable project, having already managed to successfully raise over half of the capital required. The new building is significantly improved; it is now set on two floors with a spacious room upstairs that provides the perfect environment for the regular children’s activities taking place.

In addition to the new children’s area on the first floor, there is a balcony overlooking the knave that provides additional space for the congregation.

It was essential that access was made available to the first floor to everybody, and The Platform Lift Company provided the perfect solution with the installation of a Type A Platform Lift. Now every member can enjoy the Church services from the balcony, and all the children can benefit from their new recreation room.
