What is it?
Sulphur (S), also known as Elemental Sulphur, is a yellow granular solid. It is an abundant, tasteless and multivalent non-metal. Sulphur’s most notable characteristic is its infamous smell ? frequently compared to rotten eggs. Sulphur is found in meteorites, volcanoes, hot springs, and as galena, gypsum, Epsom salts, and barite.
Where is it applied?
Sulphuric Acid production is the major end-use for Sulphur. However, it is also frequently used as an additive to fertilisers, insecticides and fungicides. In addition, because of its flammable nature, Sulphur can be used in gunpowder, matches and fireworks. Finally, Sulphur can be used in batteries, detergents, as an additive in rubber vulcanisation, and as an industrial fluxing agent.
