The amendment under discussion relates to both dairy and non-dairy products.
The amendment under discussion relates to both dairy and non-dairy products.

The amendment is to update some of the legal references such as the harmonised set of Notices and a Statement of Policy covering both dairy and non-dairy products.

In most cases, for this particular change, the references, rather than the requirements, have changed.

Please submit your comments in writing by the 5.00pm, Friday 27 November 2009.

Background
The Code of Practice (COP) for Cold and Dry Stores was published on 13 December 2006. Since then, some of the legislation that is referenced in this COP has been updated.

The main example of this is the replacement of the:

  • Animal Products (Risk Management Programme Specifications) Notice 2003; and
  • Animal Products (Dairy Risk Management Programme Specifications) Notice 2005

with a harmonised set of Notices and a Statement of Policy covering both dairy and non-dairy products. In most cases, for this particular change, the references, rather than the requirements, have changed.

Update
NZFSA is currently working on an amendment to the 'Code of Practice for Cold and Dry Stores'. This amendment is simply to update some of the legal references as mentioned above. Due to the nature of this amendment NZFSA is not intending to formally consult on the updated COP.

If you have any other issues with this COP that you would like to see reviewed as part of this amendment, please advise NZFSA, as outlined below. Depending on the nature of suggestions NZFSA receives we may need to consult on these changes. Where this is the case, this may be handled through a subsequent amendment.

NZFSA’s intention is to make any change to the COP relating to the legislation updates as simple as possible for operators. If any amendment is required to RMPs based on the approved COP, this would be a minor amendment. This may just require replacing affected sections in Part 2: GOP etc.

If you have any suggested changes, other than legislation updates, you are invited to supply these suggestions by 5.00pm, Friday 27 November 2009.

Submitters are asked to include the following information with their submission:

  • The name and title of the submitter;
  • Organisation’s name where applicable;
  • Submitters address and contact details (phone, fax and e-mail if available);
  • The title and number of the section of the COP commented on where appropriate.

Submissions should be addressed to:
Lennox Vellekoop
Programme Manager (Animal Products)
Standards Group
New Zealand Food Safety Authority

Alternatively, responses can be e-mailed to: [email protected]

All submissions are subject to the Official Information Act 1982. Therefore if you consider that all or part of your submission is commercially sensitive or should be treated as confidential, please state this clearly when making your submission.
