In the early part of 2006 a trial was run at Parilla (in South Australia's Mallee region) on a Cat 3306 stationary engine used to pump water to centre pivots.  The trial was run over 1500 hours and resulted in savings of $3.70 per hour or $5550 over the period of the trial.  This equated to a capital payback of less that 1900 hours.

The success of this trial resulted in the DGA system being fitted to a further eleven (11) units within the Mallee region in later part of 2006.  These engines were a combination of Caterpillars and Cummins.

Other benefits experienced by fumigating LPG on these engines is the reduced exhaust emissions (particularly black smoke) and the reduction in the operating temperature of the engine even in extreme conditions.
