Backplane Systems Technology launched MPL’s new Ultra Compact Fanless Computer product line the CEC Series based on Intel Atom processors. This new product line has been designed for use in industry, maritime, railways and automation applications
The tiny dimensions of CEC embedded computer are only 62 × 162 × 120mm. Nevertheless the system is still rugged and features robustness, high reliability, long term availability, low power consumption, as well as optional extended temperature range.
To ensure long term availability, seemless operation in extended temperature environments and to minimise power consumption, on-board soldered industrial grade Intel Atom processors (Z5x0PT 1.1 GHz and 1.33GHz, as well as the Z5x0P 1.6GHz) are utilized in combination with the Poulsbo US15WPT chipset. This design feature allows the CEC Series of Embedded Computers to run at full load in an operating temperature range from -40° up to +85°C.
The Ultra Compact Computer offers many interfaces. By default several Gigabit Ethernets, USB 2.0, serial ports (RS-232 or RS-422/485), PS/2 and DVI-D are available. Furthermore the Industrial PC can be expanded via the onboard Mini PCI-Express interface to provide functionality such as WLAN, Bluetooth or UMTS.
All connectors are soldered on-board, therefore no internal wiring is required. This results in a systems that has one of the highest levels operating safety and reliability. The interfaces are available on the bottom and top of the robust housing.
The wide input voltage range is specified for 8 to 36VDC, plus it is polarity and load dump protected making these units are well suited for vehicle applications.
Up to 2GB DDR2 SO-DIMM memory modules can be used. To guarantee the long term availability of storage media, two on-board SATA interfaces are provided. This allows an integrated SATA Disk-On-Module (DOM) and or a 2.5” SATA hard drive can be installed.
For easy mounting the device has a DIN rail holder on the back as well as an optional wall-mount kit.
