Energy Action validates Bay Tropical Fish Farm's electricity bill

Supplier: Energy Action
03 August, 2012

In May 2010, Bay Tropical Fish Farm, Australia's leading aquarium fish wholesaler, requested Energy Action validate its electricity bill.

After conducting the bill validation and confirming that the rates and charges were correct, Energy Action also did a network tariff review to ensure that the site was being charged on the most cost effective network tariff. Through this process Energy Action discovered that Bay Tropical Fish Farm was not on the best network tariff.

Energy Action suggested a network tariff change for Bay Tropical Fish Farm from its current Energex Small Demand to Energex Medium Demand, a move which would save the company $5,200 per year.

On behalf of Bay Tropical Fish Farm, Energy Action approached the company's electricity retailer to request the network tariff be changed. The change was approved by the electricity retailer and became effective in June 2010.

Energy Action checked Bay Tropical Fish Farm's subsequent electricity bills and determined that the change had not been enacted until July 2010. Energy Action pursued the incorrect billing with the electricity retailer who agreed to issue a revised bill – passing on further savings to the customer.

"Energy Action is excellent to work with," Pierre de Villiers, financial controller of Bay Tropical Fish Farm, said.

"They are diligent and very good at following up to make sure that the customer has received the information they wanted and that the electricity provider has indeed fulfilled all the requirements.

"One of the largest advantages of working with Energy Action is the significant cost savings in electricity which continue even after your electricity contract has been signed.

"Because Energy Action knows what's going on in the energy market they are able to keep us continually informed about any potential cost savings that may be available to us."

Pierre de Villiers, Financial Controller of Bay Tropical Fish Farm concluded: "It is great to work with a specialist company that knows a lot more about the energy market than we do. Energy Action are aware of the cost savings that electricity retailers should be giving you and work to make sure that you get them."
