Fluid mixing equipment is used to mechanically mix or blend fluids of the same or different types. The fluid mixing process is applied to: dissolve solids in a fluid, to blend two miscible fluids, and to suspend solid particles in a liquid. It is also used to maintain uniform temperature and concentration - particularly in a chemical reactive process. Fluid mixing equipment also helps to improve the rate of reaction. There are different types of mixing equipment that includes pump mixers, agitators, rotor-stator dispersers, impellers and static mixers. The rotating parts in fluid mixing machinery perform various actions such as distributive, swirling, repetitive cutting, and folding in order to achieve the expected mixing result.
Before selecting the appropriate fluid mixing equipment or its supplier, the factors to be considered are: the size and capacity of the mixing, fluid viscosity, operating temperature and pressure, and heat transfer requirements.
Fluid mixing equipment is generally used in the chemical process industry, paint mixing, food, paper and pulp, and the petroleum and pharmaceutical industry for processes such as water treatment, chemical reactions, hydrogenation and polymerisation.
