We perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to make sure the mechanical parts will have the appropriate strength and resist to the desired strain and stress. We then manufacture the parts using 3D printing, computer numerical control (CNC) machine tools or laser / jet cutter depending on quantity, material selected and the shape of the parts.
What is Mechanics?
Mechanics can be seen as the body of the system. It allows physical interaction with the environment and is also the frame of the robot. Machine bodies can be mobile, but often just serve as support for sensors, electronics board, and the human interface.
Mechanics is firstly the art of converting a mechanical force to another with potentially different torque, speed, direction, and dimension. For instance, you can convert a linear motion to a rotational motion of 90 degrees angle with a different torque ration balanced with a speed compromise.
Also, physics predicts the range of behaviour in a given environment, which the mechanical body is constrained to. Consequently, a series of studies are often conducted to identify limits of force, temperature, energy compensation, strain, stress, and more. In this way construction materials are selected taking environmental factors into account to develop a lasting machine.
