The world is turning increasingly to natural gas as a primary energy source. Much of the infrastructure is already in place, with a network of pipelines delivering natural gas to parts of Australia. Also many new pipelines are planned or being build. At the same time, heat energy will most likely be replacing volume as the standard for deciding gas contracts and prices. For this reason, there is sure to be strong growth in demand for analytical devices that can accurately determine heat content. However, previously a problem was posed by the high pricing and large size of the gas chromatographs typically used for this purpose today. Yamatake has succeeded in developing a revolutionary natural gas analyser - the HGC303 - which is the smallest gas chromatograph in the world. This revolutionary gas analyser can perform accurate on-line composition analysis (11 components) according to the ISO 6974 standard; it also calculates heat value, density, Wobbe index and compressibility factor according to ISO 6976.
