Gross bagging machines are a type of bag filling equipment designed to weigh and bag dry, granular, lumpy, crushed or powdered products into bags up to 55kg.
The system consists of a bag spout that is fully suspended on precision loadcells, bag clamp that holds the bag while filling and a controller that monitors the weighing and flow of product. A gross weigher weighs the bag and its contents to obtain a total weight. A dedicated weight controller ensures that accuracy is achieved using free fall compensation and two stage fill. As each empty bag is placed over the discharge chute and secured in place, it is tared off before the product can be discharged into the bag. Gross weigh baggers use the bag as the weigh bin and suspend the discharge chute as part of the weight that is tarred off before the commencement of the filling process.
This is a distinct difference to net weighers that have a separate weigh bin and discharge chute, whereby product weighing can begin while a bag is being placed over the discharge chute.
Because a gross bagging machine cannot begin to feed product until a bag is in place, secured and tared off, the filling cycle speed is lower than that of a net weigher.
Our range of gross weighers are suitable for bagging most types of products, including dry, granular, lumpy, crushed or powdered products into bags up to 55kg.
Features & Benefits
Diverseco gross baggers are renowned as being feature-rich packaging solutions that have more standard features than any other machine on the Australian market.
Our gross baggers use a proven ‘weigh in bag’ method that has been perfected over decades. The bag spout is fully suspended on two precision loadcells and the dedicated weight controller ensures that accuracy is achieved using automatic free fall compensation and two-stage fill.
These features enable an operator to fill up to eight 15-25kg bags per minute, with a typical accuracy of +/- 150-200gms at 20kg. Operational efficiencies are further increased with the use of positive confirmation switches that confirm that a ‘bag is in place’ before filling can commence.
Originally evolving from the industrial weighing sector, Diverseco has built on its capabilities to become one of Australasia’s leading measurement and automation solutions providers to organisations ...
