Macrosensors, USA, a manufacturer of LVDT-based linear displacement sensors and gauging probes, has introduced a family of rugged hermetically sealed LVDT position sensors that can operate in corrosive environments with simple field integration. These position sensors are ideal for use in hydraulic cylinder positioning, valve position sensing, automatic assembly equipment and other industrial applications in hostile conditions.

Enclosed in a heavy wall stainless steel housing, the HSE /HSER 750 Series DC-operated LVDTs are impervious to dirt, water, steam and other corrosive elements.  The displacement LVDT coil windings are sealed against hostile environments to IEC standard IP-68. This allows for free movement of the core, while sealing out the surrounding media from the winding. The housing, bore liner and end washers are TIG welded, providing a hermetic sealing free from oxidation-producing faults that may cause leakage.

Incorporating built-in electronics, these displacement transducers provide the desirable features of an AC-LVDT, such as frictionless operation and dynamic response, with the added convenience and simplicity of DC input and pre-calibrated DC output. Operating from 24 V DC (nominal), the HSE series LVDTs offer a full-scale output of 0 to 10 V DC. This makes it easy for field integration with PLCs, digital indicators, A/D converters, computer-based data processors, and QC data collection systems. These displacement measurement transducer series are qualified at pressures up to 1000 psi (70 bars) and are suitable for numerous high-pressure applications.

These position sensors are available in a range of 2.5 mm to 500 mm. This HSE series of displacement sensor features high resolution, excellent repeatability of > ±0.01% of FSO and low hysteresis of <±0.01% of FSO.
