"Businesses generally, but most particularly small businesses, work way too hard to afford the 'luxury' of paying too much for their insurances. That is why my team and I invest whatever time it takes to sit down with our clients and analyse their needs, line by line. Sadly, I don't know that others in our industry take the same care at times."
"Our process is methodical and meticulous. Even before we prepare documents to obtain competitive prices from insurers and make recommendations, we do our background research. We research your business using publicly available sources and learn from discussions with you. We identify any risks or exposures you or your business may have and then ensure all identified risks have been addressed according to an agreed insurance program. It's intensive work but it pays off in a better outcome for the client.
Recently for example, I noticed that the nominated sums insured for a new client did not correspond with his annual turnover. On pointing this out, it was established that he was over insured and had been paying insurance for years, on cover that he did not require, and no one from his previous brokers had told him.
In another case, where the client had been with the same broker for 20 years, we identified that in some areas, her previous cover was inferior. For example she had been underinsured and in other cases over insured and paying too much. You can imagine how she felt.In several hours, we were able to map out the cover she actually required ... and save her $10,000 per year.
I've been in this industry 20 years myself, and while we work in a high intensity environment, we determine the best and most competitive solutions for our clients from over 24 direct insurers and 54 underwriting agencies too. So all in all, there's a pretty heavy workload. I love looking after our clients and ensuring they are adequately protected, and so does my team. We get a lot of job satisfaction doing what we do for people."
"Although she had been with the same broker for 20 years, all it took was a review of her insurances to identify the inadequacies of cover. We saved her $10,000 a year..."
