Bestech Australia presents the laser displacement sensor AR700 from Acuity, a series of high accuracy measuring devices for industrial application.
Models vary in measuring range from 3mm to more than a meter and can achieve resolution better than 1.0 micron. The AccuRange 700 models find many applications in the timber industry. This laser displacement sensor is commonly integrated into automated lumber finishing machines to measure board position, board dimensions and surface profiles.
The AR700 laser displacement sensor is ideal for wood of varying colours and textures. The sensor employs CMOS line cameras for high sensitivity on timber. The long-distance AR700 laser triangulation sensors offer a valuable stand-off distance, keeping the measuring equipment away from the quickly moving lumber and potential hazards. Multiple long-range AR700 laser measuring sensors can be used to take profiles and thicknesses of the wood boards.
The sensor projects a beam of visible light that creates a spot on the target surface. Reflected light from the surface is viewed from an angle by a line scan camera inside the sensor. The forest products industry is a regular user of Acuity laser sensor products for the measurement of logs, lumber, veneer, paperboard, timber etc. These sensors are self contained and require no external controller or specialized PC card and they are easy to use.
The AR700 is distributed by Bestech Australia Pty Ltd in Australia and New Zealand.
