Olympic Group specialises in a large range of commercial and residential aluminum products, which include suites of sections for the manufacture of commercial framing, shopfront partitions, roll formed flyscreen, barrier doors & window components, cast grilles, shower screens, wardrobes, balustrade, louver systems, standard geometric & exclusive extrusions, sheet and associated products.
Olympic Group procured a German-make CNC Machining Centre for their tool room, and it was the responsibility of Theo Harris, Workshop Manager, to find a suitable CAD/CAM software that would make the best use of the machine. After exploring the options available with the major CAD/CAM vendors including the high-end vendors,
Theo decided to implement CAMWorks. This was based on the study and reviews of the ease-of-use and the Automatic Feature Recognition ability existing within CAMWorks. With just two days of training from NCCS Australia, Olympic Group was all set to get going. During the evaluation process, Theo noticed that the key differentiating feature of CAMWorks, as compared to other CAM products, was the ability to automatically recognise the features from a SolidWorks model and machine them automatically.
Currently, Theo is working on customising the Tech Database functioning in CAMWorks, which will automate his work even further.
