Costa’s is Australia’s largest distributor of fresh produce, operating major distribution centres in Victoria, New South Wales, Western Australia and Tasmania, servicing growers, packers and supplying to many of the country’s leading retailers.
The original Costa’s fruit shop was established in 1888 by the grand-uncle of the present owners.
Adapting to change has always been part of Costa’s culture, so when supermarket chains were established in the 1960s, the company began supplying the supermarkets direct to store and to various retailers warehouses: a move which created the basis for today’s business.
Costa’s Pty Ltd comprises 16 operating divisions throughout the country and remains a fully-owned and operated family business with interests ranging from wholesaling and retailing, export and import, prepacking, logistics and handling, procurement and quality management.
The group is now one of Australia’s largest wholesalers and exporters of fresh fruit and vegetables, and leads the fresh produce industry in many areas of procurement and distribution.
The distribution centre at Derrimut in Victoria has been specifically built for the storage.
