Each toroid produced at AEM undergoes a test depending on it's final application and design requirement. These requirements can be tailored to suit the application, we can perform high resolution multi-point test on measurement CT's or single point tests on less critical units. It's important to correctly test each core for it's final application and not simply generalise all cores with the traditional 1 or 2 point test.
This test rig provides several functions not previously automated, namely: degauss before test and de-magnetisation after test. It also selects appropriate flux densities against which the actual magnetising field strength is measured. This is then compared to the published curves for each material to ensure the core exceeds the minimum performance requirement.
In conjunction with Caltest Pty Ltd we have also derived the reactive and loss components of each material type from a representative population of cores produced at AEM over a period of time. The data (curves and tables) published in the following document is the culmination of these empirical tests and should form the basis of core performance in the customers design program.
